Working with Aylesbury Vale District Council, Orange Bus crafted a strategy to get to the heart of what the people of Aylesbury Vale needed from an online service - delivering an intuitive digital presence for a large UK council, that would be accessible to all, encourage a self-serve approach and drive engagement with residents, businesses and visitors.
We’re delighted with the end result and the statistics speak for themselves - we’ve got more people than ever before using our site on-the-go, an increase in new visitors, and visitors are staying and browsing around more pages than previously. Together - with extensive research - we’ve created an intuitive site which gives the people of Aylesbury Vale an easier, clearer and more intuitive journey than ever before.
The project was initiated by internal workshops to uncover insights around local residents and businesses. External customer workshops then gave residents and business owners the chance to have their say, and contribute to customer journey maps. Adopting AVDC’s branding, our designers created a new-look council website on Drupal CMS.
Departments across the board saw inbound enquiries dramatically reduced, with a 33% decrease in the Recycling and Waste department alone. Additionally, within the first month of launch the new site (vs. the old site) saw a 7% shift in traffic from desktop to mobile, and a 5% increase in new visitors. The AVDC website was shortlisted for a national UXUK Award, benchmarked against the likes of the BBC and Royal Mail.
